Spanish for "Eight Rivers", Ocho Rios, Jamaica is located on the North coast of Jamaica. A funny thing about the name is that there are not eight rivers in the area; it is believed that
it is most likely a British corruption of the original Spanish name "Las Chorreras" ("the waterfalls"). You may recognize this name for a few reasons. For one, the famous
Dunn's River Falls is located here and offers locals and tourists alike a chance to climb the nearly 600ft waterfall. Another reason you may recognize the name is because many of the 14 James Bond novels were written by Ian Flemming at his aptly named
"Goldeneye" estate, just 10 miles East of Ocho Rios.
The main reason I wanted to bring up Ocho Rios is pretty simple.
We are headed there again and the plane leaves in less than 48 hours!
I'm just going to stop there and reserve the next few updates for trip details.
